If you're on a quest to build a giant lego castle - your starting material will be the tiny lego bricks.
Should your goal be to build a great castle, it wouldn't make much sense to spend too much time fretting about where the lego bricks came from or trying to build new bricks out of something smaller.
It's much rather a better idea to take those bricks and start building a castle.
In the world of math, an axiom is a starting-point statement we choose to accept as true without needing to prove it first. They are things that are assumed to be true, without a proof.
For example: 2 parallel lines will never meet on a flat plane - this is an axiom.
We have no proof for it, we 'assume' it to be true, because it seems so obvious.
